Six lessons from Dscoop Edge Rockies that make us excited to be in the print business in 2022.

We want to thank the Dscoop team for a great event. They did a great job creating an inspiring and fun setting for us to get together, connect, and learn from each other.

It was an exceptional event. After over two years of isolation, everybody was eager to explore new opportunities, tackle new challenges, and connect beyond ink on paper.

The print industry is not in decline, but it is changing rapidly. Exciting opportunities come with tough challenges. As many times before, we went to Dscoop to connect with our clients, outsource partners, and suppliers.

But Edge Rockies proved much more than a networking opportunity, and it gave us six solid reasons to be excited about the future of the printing industry.

Making Real Connections Never Felt so Good

Making real connections is at the core of our business, and we were happy to see that everybody shared our enthusiasm to connect.

Dscoop brings the world of print together - from press operators to CEOs, from small start-ups to big brands, from material suppliers to design platforms - and provides a unique setting to connect and learn from each other.

This year the venue was alight with positive energy, buzzing with ideas, and excitement for the future. The time we spent in isolation helped us all realize the importance and the joy of personal interactions, not only in private lives but also in business.

Print is Ready to Grow

The bulk of our interactions at Edge Rockies made one thing very clear for us. As an industry, after two years of crisis management, we are ready to look ahead and explore new growth opportunities.

The consumer and business base for printed products is expanding and diversifying. Investments in innovation lead to new printing and manufacturing technologies that open new markets and allow for more product diversity, extreme personalization, and process automation.

The future of print is print-on-demand.

Gen Z is Rediscovering Print

We were happy to notice that the demographics at Edge Rockies contradicted the stereotypical representation of print as an aging industry.

The high rate of the Dscoop first-timers, the diversity of participants, and the engagement of young people proved that print is alive and relevant.

The digital natives show interest in print as a product and a career path. Their experiences, ideas, and needs gave us a fresh insight into the future of print.

The new value of print

The more digital our lives become, the more we appreciate physical, tangible products. Consumers and Businesses recognize the power of printed communication and personalized products. The focus is no longer on volume or price per thousand but product quality and unique customer experience.

Meaningful Challenges

Excitement aside, we went to Edge Rockies to address and prepare for the challenges of the new reality. Supply chain disruptions, material shortages, labor issues, and sustainability are not unique to RPI or the printing industry. But these are the challenges we are excited to address to ensure our success, make RPI a better partner for our clients, our outsource partners, and our suppliers, a better place to work, and a more sustainable company.

Meaningful Challenges

The power of real connections

Solid partnerships have always defined the way RPI does business. The circumstances change rapidly, but relationships based on trust and transparency remain crucial.

Events like Edge Rockies help us solidify the relationships we have been building for years. It is a unique setting to make real connections and connect with all involved parties.

We met with our clients to understand their goals and plans, explore the opportunities and prepare for challenges.

We met with our suppliers to share our growth plans, improve communication and forecasting, and find alternative solutions.

We were excited to meet with our outsource partners from North America, Europe, and Australia and talk about new ways we can support each other to provide a seamless experience for our clients.

The upcoming time will be a bumpy ride for all of us. But we believe in the power of real connections. We will continue to nurture and leverage the partnerships, take on new challenges, seize opportunities, and grow together.
