This brings us to our very first trend: neons and neutrals. The neons you loved in the 80′s and 90′s have flooded department store shelves and are showing up everywhere – from the red carpet to the sidewalk. But don’t pull out your tie-dyed t-shirts and teasing comb just yet – neons are much more sophisticated in 2012. They’re being paired with neutrals as a fresh pop of color – not as an all-over look. This can be easily translated into book and paper card design. For Spring 2012, neons are being used as accents to predominantly gray, khaki, and white backgrounds.
